Club Members in Action this weekend at Imokilly

Preparation’s for this year’s Acesigns Cork 20 International Rally September 29th – October 1st taking place in the rallies new home Macroom are now at a very advanced stage.

This weekend however, we will be helping out neighbouring club for the Imokilly Stages Rally, which has a tremendous entry.

Many of our club members will be both competing and marshalling on this coming Sunday.

Clerk of the Course for the Acesigns Cork 20,  Paul Browne and his wife Margaret are competing in their trusty Class 11 Honda Civic and they will be hoping for a good finish similar to their outing in Portlaoise earlier this year.

A host of other Munster Car Club members are competing this weekend and some will be really at the cutting edge of the results with club member’s  Trevor Mulligan and Sean Hayde (Cork 20 P.R.O ) on the notes for his long term Ford Escort Mark II driver. This crew who are last year’s Triton National rally 2WD overall winners will be hoping to be on the podium come Sunday evening.

Another Munster car club member Colin Fitzgerald sits in with another of his usual Mark II and local man Mark Dolphin in their Escort and will be hoping to be in the mix come Sunday evening.

Munster Car club member and former Group N National and Tarmac Championship winner Kevin Kelleher steps back into a hired Ford Escort for some fun with Macroom native William Lynch calling the notes.

Rally sponsor and Imokilly Rally co-sponsor and Munster Car club Member Neil Phelan is also competing on the Midleton based event and with engine modifications he will be hoping to bring back some crystal on Sunday also.

Carol O’ Keefee is sitting in the class 11R Twincam of William Walsh and they always go well on this event.

Daniel Hanratty is another of our team lining out on Sunday with Tarbert based driver Jason Costelloe and these men are really looking forward to teaming up for the first time.

Paul O’Connell starts just ahead on the road of our C.O.C Paul Browne and these two crews are sure to have a tremendous battle on the day as they normally do.

We in Munster Car Club and all the team from the Acesigns Ltd Cork 20 International Rally would like to wish all the Crews Competing  and Imokilly Motor Club team under the guidance of C.O.C Emmet Cronin the very best of luck this Sunday.

Don’t Forget to mark the calendar as the Acesigns Ltd Cork 20 International Rally in association with the Riverside Park Hotel Macroom is the next tarmac Rally in the County of Cork and we look forward to seeing you all in Macroom.

The Acesigns Cork 20 International Rally is the Final Counting round of the 2017 Clonakilty Blackpudding Irish tarmac rally Championship’s as well as a counting round of the Southern 4 Rally Championship and the Munster Car Club Championship.
