Moonraker 2018: Press Release #2
2018 Abbey Hotel Ballyvourney Moonraker Forestry Rally
With the first round of this year’s Valvoline Irish Forestry Rally Championship having kicked off last weekend in Carrick-on-Suir, the Munster Car Club members, under C.O.C Ger Seaman, are busy readying the route for the third counting round of the Championship, the Ballyvourney based Abbey Hotel Moonraker Forestry Rally.
The club would like to congratulate Andrew Purcell & Mark Wiley on their win, and indeed to congratulate all prize winners and finishers in what was a tough event.
Speaking today Ger Seaman said, “The Moonraker route is now finalised and this year is going to be a real test of man and machine. The Rally is now firmly one of the favourite events on the Forestry calendar and we are hopeful that entries climb to new heights again this year. We work hard with Coillte in the area and put together stages that have been described by leading crews as the “Finland of Ireland” due to the fantastic condition of the roads used in and around the Ballyvourney Area.”
This year the Moonraker will be using familiar terrain but will be using different routes through the forestry. It will still use the ‘Rally 2’ friendly 4 x 2 stages format.
The event takes place on Saturday April 14th to facilitate the many crews travelling from long distances including Northern Ireland and further afield.
Scrutiny, Service and Trailer park are all within walking distance of H.Q, The Abbey Hotel Ballyvourney.
Keep an eye on the Munster Car Club Facebook page and website over the coming weeks for details on regulations, entry forms and more details on the event as it approaches.
If in the meantime you require any further details the C.O.C, Ger Seaman, can be contacted on 087-2204650.
