The Munster Car Club are delighted to announce the support of Orchard Motorsport – The Number One source of motorsport clothing, from Armagh as associate sponsors for this years 2010 Cork ’20′ International Rally along with the Silver Springs Moran Hotel which will be the HQ for this years event.

Once again the October weekend will be the final round of the Citroen Irish Tarmac Rally Championship and 50% bonus points will be awarded. Last years overall winner Gareth McHale is expected to lead a high class field in this years rally which will also be a counting round of the Historic Tarmac Rally Championship, Fiesta Sporting Trophy, Citroen Trophy and the Southern 4 Rally Championship.

Cork ‘20’ Returns West

Munster Car Club welcomes round 6 of the 2010 Citroen Irish Tarmac Rally Championship when it hosts the Cork ‘20’ International Rally on 2^nd – 3^rd October next.

We have endeavoured to select a very competitive and testing route on this years event including a number of old and “classic” Cork ‘20’ stages, keeping the tradition of this event which dates back to 1911 when the Cork ‘20’ was a 20 hour trial. (Hence the name Cork 20)

This year we are delighted to welcome on board our new associate sponsors Orchard Motorsport & The Silver Springs Moran Hotel which will be the HQ for this years event.

Munster Car Club invites you to the official press launch of the 2010 Cork ‘20’ International Rally in the Silver Springs Moran Hotel Cork at 8pm on Friday 27^th August.

Congrats to our club members who all did well at the Circuit of Kerry last weekend…….Barry Meade (4th overall and 1st in class),Richard Whelan/Colin Fitzgerald (10th overall and 1st in class),Philip Cross/Brian Doherty (2nd in class),Helen Duggan (4th in class)and finally a special word for Jonathan Delaney (1st time in a rally car and finished in the Junior Class)

Cronin wins Munster Car Club Autocross

Daniel Cronin the 2009 Munster Autocross Champion showed that he had lost none of his speed during the winter break in the championship as he scored maximum points in Round 1 of the 2010 Jerry Murphy Tyres Munster Autocross Championship. Cronin set a blistering pace and his time of 1:28.50 could not be beaten despite the best efforts of Mark Dolphin who set a time of 1:28.84. Class 1 was yet again a close affair with Ger Lynch taking the honours in his Starlet by just 2 seconds from the Civic of Victor Beamish with Conor Bradley 3rd. Class 2 saw Ian Stanley take the top spot from Owen Murphy while Gerard O’ Connell was the sole entrant in class 3. James Lehane won Class 4 with Jimmy Lucey taking the class 5 honours in his Special. Mark Dolphin won class 6 for motorbike engined special and the Junior class battle was won by David Beamish with Denis Nagle 2nd. Well done to Gavin Walsh the Munster Car Club for putting together an elcellent event. The next round of the championship is set to take place in Skibbereen on the 14th February where the battle for the 2010 championship will again commence!.
